Sweat With Kayla Itsines – An Honest Opinion
So. I’ve mentioned some slight disappointment in Kayla Itsines before, but I am all about second chances. So when I saw that Kayla was creating a new “pdf’, to be released as a mobile app, I decided to see just how well it would change my impression of her ability to create an effective workout plan.
If you haven’t yet, check out my main review of the Bikini Body Guide on the homepage.
One thing to note is that I did actually buy the BBG program (version 1 and version 2) before I gave them what turned out to be negative reviews. I tried them out, so I got familiar with the content. That means that if someone was to try…say…repackaging the same material, I would definitely take notice.
Could that be a hint? 😉
This is my number 1 concern with the Bikini Body Guides, and if you recall, it was what lead me to ultimately recommend the Jen Ferruggia bikini workout as a cheaper alternative to the BBG program that many have grown to love. Perhaps I’m a cynic, but when I heard about this new Sweat with Kayla app, I was half-expecting it to be overpriced as well.
Surprise! Unfortunately, I was correct.
The Program costs $19.99 a month to maintain access. Kim Kardashian and Clash of Clans, eat your heart out. This might be the most expensive app aimed at adults ever. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I certainly do not have this much money budgeted out on a monthly basis to go towards my mobile programs.
OK! I’ll admit it. I’m cheap. If you’re going to charge me $19.99 a month for an app, it doesn’t have to be perfect. It just have to be god damn effective. And if it’s not, that high price point is going to be a major strike against you if I happen to have a blog on which I post reviews of services.
Well! For $19.99 a month, surely you’re getting access to groundbreaking workout plans, and information that will otherwise change your world view!
Well, at least not if you’ve already gotten that very same experience from the earlier BBG workouts that Kayla released.
Because as far as I’m concerned, this program is a complete repackaging of all the same material that we’ve already learned from the earlier workout pdfs that Kayla released.
Except now you get to pay a total of $240 for a year’s worth of access, rather than paying a (admittedly still hefty) $210 for the one time purchase of Kayla’s BBG (version 1, version 2, and the meal plan). New exercises? Nope! Groundbreaking nutrition updates? Updates on nutritional information (which changes like the seasons by the way).
There’s nothing new about the content of this program except that it’s being offered in non-pdf format with a monthly subscription rate. Which, while neat, is not worth $19.99 a month to experience.
If you’ve purchased or used the Bikini Body Guide, you’ve already experienced Sweat with Kayla! So congrats – your expensive workout plan is actually 2 (or 3) workout plans.
Sorry if I’m coming off a bit harsh, but I definitely have a problem with people charging these outrageous prices for what is effective their name/their brand being on a package. I don’t pay $50 for shirts because they have a horse on them, and I don’t drop $200 on a workout (anymore) because the creator has a lot of followers on social media.
But, don’t mind me being a sourpuss. At the end of the day, Kayla is effective at constructing workouts that are easily followed by the people reading them. If you’re going to invest in her program, all you really have to ask yourself is whether or not you personally can stick with the exercise and diet plan that she has laid out for you. Do you trust anyone else to lead you towards a beach body?
Speaking of which, I’m going to take this opportunity to once again recommend that you check out the Bikini Body Workouts that Jen Ferruggia created – as I stated in my earlier reviews, they are a fraction of the price of the BBG workouts and are just as effective, plus they even come with instructional videos. BUT! That’s not what this review is about.
This review is about the Sweat with Kayla app, which, if you do not already have it, I would suggest that you don’t sweat it. HAH! Get it?
Don’t buy this.
